MONTHLY RESULTS / ILLUSTRATIVE

Revenue is only part of the picture.

Compare revenue with operating costs, then investigate what sits behind the movement.

RevenueOperating costsR’000 · baseline R0

March operating surplus: R33 000. R150 000 revenue less R117 000 operating costs. This simplified example excludes tax and other items.

Profit and available cash are different.

Cash depends on when receipts arrive and payments leave—not just when income and costs are recorded.

OUTSTANDING BALANCES / ILLUSTRATIVE

Know which balances need a follow-up.

Separate amounts not yet due from overdue balances. Check disputes, credits and allocations before chasing a payment.

Bars start at R0. A full track represents R40 000.

R40 000 of R80 000 is overdue. Ageing gives follow-ups a starting point; an overdue balance is not automatically a bad debt.

BEFORE WE GET STARTED

A few practical questions.

Can we work together remotely?

Yes. The working arrangement starts with agreed document sharing, authorised system access where needed and a clear communication routine.

What if my records are behind?

Start with an assessment of the periods involved, the supporting records and the last reliable balances. Catch-up work can then be scoped separately.

How are fees determined?

Fees are agreed after reviewing the volume, complexity, condition of the records and the support required. Fees and scope are confirmed before work begins.

What do I need to provide?

This depends on the work. An agreed document checklist will set out the records, reporting periods and authorised access required.

Are tax, audit or statutory services included?

MATTLY’s services cover bookkeeping and practical finance support. Audit, assurance and regulated tax services are outside this scope. Raise any statutory requirements before we agree the work.
